Jules Feiffer has described Tony Auth best, "His perspective is that of a bemused and often angry comic historian. Irony, never a favorite form with Americans, is his meat and potatoes. He is not smug, and though he can be mean, he is never mean-spirited. Auth is a moralist and an optimist. He insists, even in this day and age, that hope is more than the name of a right-wing comedian or the shtick of a reactionary president."

The left says they are doing it for the children but most of the gun killings done today are done with illegal guns. So what are they trying to prove. This is leadership of fear.

Didn’t you mean “legal”?
ARodney said, 5 months ago
Jack doesn’t know what he said. He just copied it from Fox news and doesn’t actually understand it. But the guns ARE legal, and that’s the scandal. It’s perfectly legal for a convicted murderer or someone on the terrorist no-fly list to buy an assault weapon, as long as it’s done at a gun show. Thanks to NRA pressure. What is ILLEGAL is for the ATF to release any data on gun safety, thanks again to the NRA.

Grover Norquist is at the center of both. He is on the board of directors of the NRA and President of the Americans for Tax Reform, where the pledges to protect and defend Grover are signed.
-
Americans for Tax Reform secretly finances supposedly grass roots lobbying campaigns, and is secretly financed itself.
-
It is common for the Koch Brothers to secretly finance campaigns and organizations.

What I find best about the current situation are the people on message-boards complaining that the President is returning to Washington DC in order to be ready to do a last-minute deal. These people complain that his “premature” departure costs the taxpayer $200K, because now the rest of the First Family will have to be flown back separately. Mind, these are THE SAME PEOPLE that criticized the President for going on his well-earned vacation IN THE FIRST PLACE!!! The longer this stuff goes on the more I’m convinced I should not longer buy American products or use American services. You are all NUTS and I don’t want to catch the crazy from you!!!

Opposing broad tax cuts during an economic expansion and opposing broad tax increases during an economic recession, is probably a little too subtle for you to understand.

ALL the weapons used in the mass shootings in the U.S., Columbine, Tucson (Giffords), and Sandy Hook were “legal”. The shooting in New York of four firemen was done with “legal” guns, but the SHOOTER was a convicted murderer, out on parole, and in possession of a “legal” gun, merely POSSESSED illegally, by a convicted felon.
Gangs often carry automatic weapons which they do NOT pay the taxes on, that makes possession illegal, but still doesn’t actually make the weapon “illegal”.
BTW, all those saying we have from 20,000 to 50,000 “laws on the books already”, using or bloating the NRA claim, I’d like to see them come up with 100 actual different laws on firearms. Counting reiteration of the SAME law, by different jurisdictions, does NOT constitute a “different” law.
Right, a law taxing ammunition to pay for wildlife management (as one example) is a real “seizure” of weapons for hunters. Likewise limits on magazine size for rifles and shotguns for hunting is really “confiscatory”. (BTW, that was passed to end “market hunting” that wiped out several species, like the passenger pigeon, and endangered many more with hunters taking egrets etc, simply for their feathers, for women’s hats.)

Jack, the killings in Connecticut were done with guns owned by the killer’s mother. All perfectly legal.

I don’t understand why that any politician that holds an office would be there just to throw a wrench into the works and hurt their own country and hurt their own countrymen.
Both parties used to be FOR America, just different way to do it. But now that the tea party has taken over the republican party it seems the only thing the reeps want is to give even more tax breaks for the wealthyist! That has been the one Thing standing in the way!
It’s like they have sold their souls to make the Kochs richer along with some other companies

Republicans were elected for the sole purpose of stopping O’s policies. They are doing it. And the libs are crying up a storm. If dems wanted to pass something they could compromise, but they don’t know what it means.
