Jules Feiffer has described Tony Auth best, "His perspective is that of a bemused and often angry comic historian. Irony, never a favorite form with Americans, is his meat and potatoes. He is not smug, and though he can be mean, he is never mean-spirited. Auth is a moralist and an optimist. He insists, even in this day and age, that hope is more than the name of a right-wing comedian or the shtick of a reactionary president."

Roughly twenty minutes after defending state rights in the airzona immigration law, scalia overturned a 100 year old montana law because of citizens united. I guess states rights isn’t as rock solid as CONservatives like to claim.

Romney honestly believes that corporations are people.

You really have no idea how it all works do you, The Montana law was in direct contradiction to the first ammendment and the fourteenth, while the Arizona law(the part which was upheld) is not in contradiction to any statute or power as deliniated(sp) by the Constitution

“Olive Italian” Scalia won’t be in Phoenix before that silly decision gets tested on how Arizona implements the one section left.

Ammendments do not apply to corperations because CORPERATIONS ARE NOT PEOPLE. They do not have a right to free speach. Therefore, the montana law that limited corprate contributions was legal. (how many corperations were arrested after a product they made killed someone)
The arizona law on the other hand violated the 4th ammendment by allowing people to be arrested without probable cause. (being brown is NOT probable cause).

A sickening decision by a corporatist court.

The take over of America by the fascist right is almost complete. All they need now is the presidency.

To overturn supreme court decisions, a constitutional convention can be called. An amendment that money is not speech and corporations are not people could be made.

So, for those who support Citizens United, tell me: the Chinese or Iranian government buys a majority share in a US corporation, and then uses its money to promote its interests in the US. The corporation is registered in the US. Only the controlling stockholders and board of directors are Iranians or Chinese. Any problem with that? American citizens are not for sale to the highest bidder. American corporations are. For certain limited legal purposes, it is necessary and useful to regard corporations as “persons.” I have no quarrel with that. But, while they may be persons, they are not Americans, not citizens. They have no national allegiance. Anyone can buy stock and anyone can thus control the corporation. The conservative bugbear, the big bad unions, which have a small fraction of the power they once had, and are represented as having, cannot be controlled by foreign nationals: corporations can. Again, I have no problem with that: why shouldn’t anyone be able to buy stock? But a corporation, by its nature, exists only to make a profit.
I can easily imagine a Board of Directors ordering that corporate resources be used to promote policies profitable to the stockholders, even if, personally the members of the board all think such policies are bad for the country. “We can’t follow our own judgment, we are the agents of the stockholders. They have told us to do what is necessary to maximize our profits. It will be good for our bottom line if X, Y and Z are done in Washington. Therefore we have to encourage those things, even if we personally fear that they may harm the country as a whole in the long run.” If you hire a manager to run your business, do you want to do things harmful to your bottom line because he doesn’t approve of some of things you want him to do? “I’ve become a vegetarian, so I took all the mean dishes off the menu in the restaurant I run for you.” Insofar as they act as corporate executives, they are not supposed to consult their personal opinions about life, but to consult only the financial interests of their stockholders. Remember old Vanderbilt when told that his policies were unpopular with, and injured the public? “The public be damned! I work for my stockholders!”

How so? it was a 9 to 0 decision to uphold the portion of he law requiring AZ LEO’s to ask anyone they arrest for proof they’re legal USA Citizens. This means if a White Male is arrested in AZ, he must show proof he’s a Legal USA Citizen

The SCOTUS ruled 9 to 0 to uphold the portion of the AZ Immigration law requiring AZ LEO"s to ask anyone arrested in AZ to show proof they’re Legal USA Citizens. Why is it so hard for you to understand this?
The only time any AZ LEO can ask any citizen fro proof they’re Legal USA Residents is after they’re arrested and booked into jail. No Arrest, no legal right to ask for proof of Legal USA Citizenship.
How much clearer does this need to be for you to see the only way any one living in or traveling through AZ can be legally asked to prove they’re Legal USA Citizens is after they’re arrested.
Oh, you can bet your last penny they will have a team of lawyers to ensure the arrest was justified and legal every step of the way.
