Jules Feiffer has described Tony Auth best, "His perspective is that of a bemused and often angry comic historian. Irony, never a favorite form with Americans, is his meat and potatoes. He is not smug, and though he can be mean, he is never mean-spirited. Auth is a moralist and an optimist. He insists, even in this day and age, that hope is more than the name of a right-wing comedian or the shtick of a reactionary president."

Yes,Assad is terrible, his dad was worse. However, when did WE become Syrians, or when did they become U.S. citizens subject to OUR rule? Also, our Constitution says something about those who try to overthrow the government with arms.
Americans don’t HAVE A CLUE about the internal sectarian conflicts going on in the MIddle East, and in Syria.
Those blaming “Islam”, might review all the “peace” that broke out as a result of the Protestant Reformation.

Naked power comes out of the barrel of a gun.

As terrible a bastage as Lurch is, global public pressure won’t shame him out of power any more than it did saddam. Sadly, getting rid of Lurch would only create a vacuum to be filled by more muslim jihadist vermin.

Jack: the PROBLEM is that we CAN do better, and it is NOT coming from right-wing nut cases out for wars, killing, and extermination as solution: oh, wait, that’s sooooooo “biblical”!!

Boys, the problem is with RUSSIA, not with America; they’re the ones who are supplying arms to Assad in the first place! (Why else would they be the only one of the G8 Nations who protested against more sanctions?)
Or did anyone not see that?

With that big old gun between his legs, it’s pretty safe to say that Assad is compensating for something. Perhaps a severe lack of support from his own people.

Yes we can, but not from childish left wing whiners. Last think no one wants to go to war but not doing anything can be just as bad look at Syria and today’s strip. A comment about Asad and you made it about the US.

^Did you not notice my comment on Assad? The fact that we have “enabled” his father, and him, for decades, is a part of the problem. That “Arab Spring” is affecting a number of our former “buddies”, is VERY complex, not black and white, with multiple factions fighting for control. Americans just don’t believe in “complexity”, in anything any more. THAT is our real danger to ourselves, and others.

No you didn’t, you went to the protestant reformation, and issue way to far back to be relevant, then saying Americans don’t have a clue and also a sarcastic comment about when did we become Syrians or they are subject to our rules.
Truth is your cynicism like yours is just being naïve with a bad attitude.

Jack, you really don’t get to comment on childishness, when you write like a 10-year-old who has been huffing glue. You can’t look up simple information before you post, and you whine about people being mean to you when you are called on your nonsense.
