Hey folks,
Wanna know where I’ve been the last week? Read the latest Fake Monday Update™ on the Fakerockstar blog: http://www.fakerockstar.com

L. Kennedy:
Uh, excuse me. Are you saying that Pandolph writes Foxtrot or every comic on GoComics is down to one day a week? (Not being a daily reader of Foxtrot I’m not up on the comings and goings of that strip.); or is Toby going to take them all down when his master plan is realized?

Comics probably go extinct a lot more often than they go weekly.
If a weekly comic dies, that doesn’t prove much.
“Opus” was better weekly than it ever was daily.
Comics that ‘live on’ after their spirit is dead are worse than comics that simply stop publishing, and certainly worse than comics that go into re-runs.
“Doonesbury” was gone for the better part of the year, and had a hiatus more than once since then - and it’s doing great.
(Indeed, I’d say a cutback of some sort is past due when the artist gets to the point where he just can’t resist saying his consistent fans are “idiotic and somewhat mean-spirited”.)
But I do agree with LK about one thing - if and when Toby ends, I’ll miss it! Corey’s the best - and in a fresh way with each strip.

Which is why I’m so frustrated with him. If I didn’t enjoy the comic strip I would be so annoyed at him for failing to deliver on his promises so often.

Hey folks,
I’m about a pound and half into the bacon flu here, I think. I do have some comics drawn and if I can hold down a meal, I’ll get them colored and posted.
Hang in there and easy on the snark pedal,

would you prefer that he doesn’t update us at all? I’m glad he let’s us know what’s going on, and I hope TOBY comes back at a full 5 days a week strip, because it was the best strip he had. I tried to give the elderberries a try but it sucks.

I don’t applaud this ‘effort’ at all. I see it as just one in a long string of promises, and we know how good Pandolph is at keeping his promises, don’t we?
I, too, do not like Greene with Envy. The world does not need another strip about people living in the suburbs. The strip, at the very least, requires a drawing style that handles facial expressions better. Oh, and, better jokes. GWE is just lame. That’s why I stopped reading it.
At any rate, I expect we are coming to the end of Barkeater Lake, Toby and GWE. I don’t read the Elderberries because I don’t find it funny. So that is the end of any support I had for Pandolph.
Maybe someday, when no-one buys his books and no-one reads any of whatever comics he gets around to doing, Pandolph will realise just how badly he treated his former fans. But I doubt it. He will probably just play the victim and blame everyone but himself.

“Why can’t you just keep doing the strips that people love? Why do you have to go out of your way to kill the best strip you have?”
Because I hate people love.

Ease up, people. TOBY is a brilliant and original strip, and I’m addicted to it, but the same was true for Calvin & Hobbes. If it’s time to end, that’s the creator’s choice. Enjoy what we’ve had the privilege of seeing. If there is more to come, consider it a gift. Many thanks, Pandolph- great work! Hope thinkg work out well for you.

The Angry Eyebrows launch has been pushed back to November 2nd. Partly because of me and partly because of GoComics scheduling.
The new strip will reside at the Greene With Envy page, with TOBY and Barkeater Lake keeping their respective pages for archive use.
Barkeater Lake will begin again form the start, with added commentary on certain strips from yours truly. TOBY will also begin again from the start.
I look forward to the new format. Apologies for the delay.
Cheers!

Corey, this is not a sarcastic question, honestly. I’m genuinely curious about this: Why will TOBY and Barkeater Lake be restarting instead of continuing from current? You stated that both strips will be archived here. Anyone who discovers Angry Eyebrows from GoComics will most likely be directed to view the older strips somewhere in the intro section of the AE page, and neither strip has run so long as to be all that intimidating in length.
Like most others here, I’ll be delighted to see whatever strips you choose to post, but it is sustained character development that makes me truly love a series. I look forward to seeing Morris, Delores, and the rest as they face new experiences. I hope, whatever direction you find for your crew from here on, that you stand by it for the duration of their adventures, making course-adjustments as necessary, but no longer undoing their lives-to-date.
Best wishes for Angry Eyebrows!

too bad! I was starting to get interested in the plot line—until Toby toons stopped coming. I thought you were just on a long vacation. Now I’ll never know how Toby will bring about the damnation of all mankind.
