Back in the mid 1980’s my husband took a business management class on negotiations. His company’s business management class. Their class text was “Getting to Yes”. One of the examples was a husband trying to get his wife to spend a weekend in a nudist camp. In the envisioned scenario, the husband reassures his wife about all of her (unreasonable to him) fears. They go to the nudist camp. I wondered out loud why the wife didn’t say, “You go, have fun. You are a free agent, So am I. While you are gone, I’ll change the locks and get a lawyer.” Or “You do know that while you are checking out the hot, young nubile women, they won’t be checking you out. But some of the older men might be.” I mentioned this to my husband, his face fell. Then he muttered about unforeseen consequences.
