I didn’t see it and glad I didn’t but civil rights has been set back 50 years, especially in N. Carolina! I hope their scheme for rigging the elections fails!

Miley’s vulgar and moronic display didn’t set back the Civil Rights movement, but it put a serious dent in the effort to get people to appreciate white people who dance.
That awful little hose-bag made me want to hang up my “rock-n-roll shoes” for good.

Be sure to remind yourself of that should you ever be inclined to criticize something you’ve seen or heard.
If you weren’t forced at to watch it (or hear it), I guess you’ve no legitimate right to pass judgment on it, right?

Anyone that expected “classy” from the music “industry” hasn’t been paying much attention…

I’m guessing this wasn’t meant to be as offensive as it is—but you do realize that it basically says that civil rights means nothing? And furthermore, that “those dark skinned people” are to blame for sexualized dances / the degradation of white women / some other similar, tired old racist trope? (As if ass-shaking were something that didn’t exist a century or a millennium ago…)

Freedom includes the freedom to be a complete idiot.
Of course, it also includes the freedom to ignore idiots and not give them the attention they crave, but that seems to be a freedom we don’t choose to exercise much.

The TV in the laundromat was on but I was loading a dryer during the “clothing malfunction” and missed it.
I don’t watch award shows at all so missed that one as well.

Must say I am not offended by either one.

    This cartoon however…

I’m not after Olfart’s jugular, I’m just questioning his contention that we shouldn’t have opinions because we weren’t forced to watch. Usually we are in agreement on most things, but reasonable people can disagree on some things and still agree on others (unlike the conservatives, who insist that all be in lock-step, or be replaced by someone who is).

Madonna has done some attention-gobbling stuff (The “Sex” book was kind of dullsville, frankly) But I don’t recall anything quite this tasteless. Maybe it was supposed to appeal to adults who fetishize furries?

Yes, money does legitimize all manner of grotesqueries.
    Sad, ain’t it?
