A side note on California condors. I did a short paper on them for one of my wildlife classes some 50 years ago. I found that a big part of their population decline in the late 1800s was due to egg collecting by bird watchers, primarily Audobon Society members. I’d bet that you won’t see that info anymore…….

Thank you for that information, no I have never read that. It’s no wonder they aren’t blaming cats, their favorite scapegoat. I cancelled my membership last year and no longer contribute. Glad I did

A friend sent me a solar-cam of a nesting pair of eagles and 2 chicks. I got it yesterday and I keep going back to watch. It comes fromMinnesota and is fabulous.

We are so lucky here in Northern Virginia that we have eagles all over the place.

One in my back yard the other day and more nesting near Mount Vernon Plantation where I walk the dog.

and in re minnesota eagles we are on the point of becoming infested(in a good way) with raptors up here in the frozen north. as you drive down the beltway around the cities you can see them perched every second or third light pole. I live about 20-25 miles from two major riverways and we regulary have bald eagles in our neighborhood.
