   Here in Northern Virginia, the coyotes serenade us quite often.

   I dont mind them. They help keep the other pests down. I have had fewer groundhogs these past few years when the coyotes arrived.

   I am only ten minutes from the big city and the beltway. However, for the last forty years I have lived in the country surrounded by acres of forest. I am very lucky. I have foxes, eagles, piliated woodpeckers and sometimes a few turkeys. Too many deer.

   Around here, in a city of over 1 million, coyotes eat a lot of cats and small dogs!

   “… Too many deer…” If there are big cats in the area, then set out a salt lick for the deer. The predators will figure out where the best spot for getting dinner is. The deer population will thin out.
