My cable company called yesterday trying to get me to sign up for their ‘bundled’ service. Sorry, says I, but all I need is high speed Internet. I don’t watch TV and I already have a phone.
Where I am, we have three local English station and one in French. After the antenna cable broke, we were okay without television; but Oldest Son couldn’t live without cable, so he pays for it, and I try to ignore it. Especially since he dragged an LCD tv home. I tried to get the colour and brightness toned down a bit, but it just hurts to look at the stupid thing.
Housewives of …., the Kardasians, Honey Boo Boo, Survivor, Jersey Shores, The Bachelor, etc are creating an American full people wasting their lives watching fools. TV networks found a way to create pop idols from people who haven’t the brains to come out of the rain.vicarious. True competitions like TOPSHOT, or real life (though edited) like AXMEN, Swampmen, and some of the other Discovery and History channel programs are far better.
Ralph Dunagin and Dana Summers’ The Middletons pokes gentle fun at the realities of middle-class America. The cast of characters features Morris and Midge Middleton, the archetypical suburban family and their next-door neighbors, The Wades. Ernest and Peg Wade head an upwardly mobile African-American family climbing the ladder of success.
