    In the early 1900s, when there were still only two cars in the state of Kansas(Or Oklahoma), they had a collision with each other.

    Back in the 60s Americans came to notice many car deaths were the result of bad car and road designs. Manufactures began to build safer cars, government made better roads and mandated some safety features in cars. Drunk driving was recognized as a problem and law enforcement
    efforts stepped up.

    The result was to cut the number of needless deaths per mile driven to 1/5 of what it was 50 years ago. Nobody had their cars taken away by jackbooted thugs. We could do the same with guns if only the NRA and its ilk were not more interested in selling even more guns but that is their only goal. They are the marketing arm of the gun manufacturers
