    Exactly. I’m getting rather tired of mother-in-law jokes from this strip. I wonder why so few people see mother-in-law jokes as sexist? Why are there no father-in-law jokes?

    Jokes get started because there’s usually some truth behind them, or at least a perceived truth. Now in my case, my m-i-l, God rest her soul, was in more ways than one about the least stereotypical m-i-l you could ever encounter. She certainly wasn’t the meddlesome type; and I didn’t get the vibe that I was some piece of junk my wife was trying to rescue.
