Art holds a mirror up to Nature. The Buckets come along, turn the mirror on Art and say, “Look how goofy you’re acting. Now get to work, Art. Your kids need an Xbox 360.”
The Buckets comic strip isn’t a parody of family life. Parodies are filled with hearts and rainbows or enraged tirades and dramatic confrontation. The Buckets, though? Nope. Real life, baby. It’s funny because it’s on a page and not in your house at the moment. Next week, when it’s happening to you, you’ll thank us for reminding you that it’s supposed to be funny.
Greg Cravens looks in the mirror and see not himself, but all of us. And then he draws up the silly, grand, goofy, thrilling, utterly human things we do and calls it The Buckets.

I have the large 3D LED TV with Blu-Ray player but I still love the movie theater experience. I have plans today to go to the movies with a friend.

Around here, central Maryland, the movie theater experience is “call and response.”

Ten cents to get in, 10 cents for a soda and 5 cents for Malt Balls….that is if you had the quarter that Saturday afternoon…yes, I am dating myself

Saturday matinées – 25 cents got us in with enough left over for snack. MacIntosh toffee. The BIG bar. With the wonderful teen behind the counter that knew how to get big smiles out of us little kids.Always bought the toffee when he was working. LOVED how he would smash it on the counter (by request) to break it into pieces.
.
Now I buy the movie coupons through work so movie night will be $8.50 plus the $7 bucks for popcorn. (drink bottle is in the bag)

The big picture is still at the movie theaters, and the concessions are where they make their profit, not off the films they show.

@Hunter7
Consider inflation.

My honey has a big screen tv and blu ray but we still go to the movie theater for certain movies. We don’t bring our own food and we don’t buy it there. Who says you have to eat when you watch a movie?

“Call and response”? No idea what you mean; and I, too, live in central MD.
