Art holds a mirror up to Nature. The Buckets come along, turn the mirror on Art and say, “Look how goofy you’re acting. Now get to work, Art. Your kids need an Xbox 360.”
The Buckets comic strip isn’t a parody of family life. Parodies are filled with hearts and rainbows or enraged tirades and dramatic confrontation. The Buckets, though? Nope. Real life, baby. It’s funny because it’s on a page and not in your house at the moment. Next week, when it’s happening to you, you’ll thank us for reminding you that it’s supposed to be funny.
Greg Cravens looks in the mirror and see not himself, but all of us. And then he draws up the silly, grand, goofy, thrilling, utterly human things we do and calls it The Buckets.

No, Mom. You need to request that he make up his mind FROM THE GIVEN OPTIONS. Anything else he tosses out, you reply that, “That is not an option.” My boys hate it when I say that. =]

Don’t forget the rocket skates.

Never let your mind wander – it’s too small to be out on its own.

He’s a kid. A kid with a fantastic imagination. Let him pick out what he wants to wear and don’t squelch his mind! Choose your battles and your win percentage will go up.
What’s it gonna hurt if he wears something that looks like a costume when it’s not Halloween? At least when he’s just a youngster.

Eddie pick one of these too for now and we’ll see if we can find you the outfit in your mind.

Set the boundaries… “You can wear this, or this and maybe this. Which one do you want?” They get to choose and you’ve set the boundaries.

I’m with Eddie on this one – why should I make my mind conform with your reality when I’ve got a perfectly good one of my own in here.
