   In Canada, the vast majority of the words use British spelling and for ‘Z’ we say Zed, not Zee.

   I remember an old joke about a thief who stole furniture from Buckingham palace getting caught because he lived in a glass house. People who live in glass houses shouldn’t stow thrones.

   Yes, but the spelling seems to go in cycles. Visiting London in 1969 I was startled to see an advertisement for “colour televisions.” About the same time we (Canadian students) were being told to use American spellings in term papers and publications.
