    “…Our Home Caught Fire…”
That’s more believable than “…the dog ate my homework…”

It’s hard for me to know what to say in situations like this, other than I’m sorry for your loss, and that seems so inadequate.
I hope your life gets back to normal soon.

I’m glad to hear you and your family are safe – that’s the most important.

Things can be replaced- glad you are safe! I had wondered what happened to the strip soon after I added to my page.

Thanks for taking the time to let us all know!

Grateful you even thought of us, Your Public, in a time which is most likely way more stressful than 33 words show. Resettling will be a huge task, but attack it like eating an elephant — one bite at a time. Best wishes to you and your family.

Oh man, what a shame. Thanks for your update and be assured you’re in my thoughts, wishing you as swift and painless a resettling as possible.

I don’t know what caused your fire but I learned something recently that everybody should be aware of: when you recycle 9-volt batteries be sure to put electrical tape over the terminals. Inadvertent shorting by juxtaposition of other dead batteries can cause a fire.

    Thank you, Lost Bears,
Your kind words mean a great deal to Amy and I.

As I shared with family and friends via Facebook:
Our Los Angeles townhouse caught fire in a very big way when the gas central heating unit on the ground floor exploded at 2am on Tuesday, January 14th.

The flames shot up beneath our bedroom on the second floor while we were fast asleep, and our lives were only saved by the smoke alarm. It was undeniably terrifying, but thankfully My Beloved and I managed to escape without serious injury.

The Fire Department sent seven trucks within ten minutes and it took them several hours to put out the blaze completely. Standing outside in your pyjamas watching your home burn is a tragic thing to experience – it’s horrible to think you were but moments away from your life ending.

However, in time, the dark feelings are replaced by supreme gratitude – We will forever remember how lucky we are to have each other and thus, want for nothing else.

Yes, we lost some furniture and other valuable items to fire, water and smoke damage, however the good news is that we didn’t lose anything that was deeply precious.

It’s certainly been a challenging two weeks, but rest assured we are fine: We’ve found plenty to laugh about as bourgeois refugees and we are both excited about better days ahead.

    BTG

PS: Please check your smoke alarms.
