Don’t worry about a little flashy competition, Kid. You’re still sovereign of the pond, in mint condition, with sterling prospects and a golden future. Just smile and make a wish.

    Ok, make another wish.

Or looks like Goldie is going through the big change.

Did that with the first wife however she always wished I was dead.

I agree with the wishing well idea – like people throwing change into fountains.

Bet that fish is getting hit on the head – or hoping that his sad wish came true :-(

You are quite right, clever Lost Bears – I was watching wishful tourists, young and old, bombard a decorative pond with monetary shrapnel and thought how miserably unlucky the resident goldfish must feel to be considered the source of such good luck!

But why the GBP? Only an idiot would throw something that “valuable” into a well.

    Ha hah!
No reason, other that I was looking for iconic currencies foreign to the USA, and I happened to have a few GBPs to hand.
This is not a cartoon about the European fiscal policy or monetary units in general, just an observation that there is another side to every wish, often lurking just below the surface.
