Ender’s Game is the future, except the future is upon us, pal!

It’ll be so easy to get those teenage video gamers to pilot drones and robot soldiers. They won’t care who they’re killing, as long as they get top score.

Hey Ted, obviously you have a real problem with drones. Bush used them and now O does too. Just like any military technique, as long as its eliminating threats and saving our troops lives, I have no problem with them. Should we ban them because mistakes have happened? How about banning tanks too?

ConserveGov: many people have problem with drones. Drone attacks are not simply unethical, but also counter-productive. Drone attacks are making enemies faster than we can kill them.

If some other country started routinely blowing people up in the US, you’d probably start violently hating that country. Look how crazy the US went after 9/11. Now imagine the reaction if there were a decade of continual attacks on the US instead of just one attack.

Several of our local suburbs have been trying to eliminate trash picking. So far they have decided that if no one makes a mess it’s OK.

Well, you know, one drone hates to see other drones being put to work.

Perhaps you could enlighten us. What is the difference between a drone and a bomb or artillery shell?

I’m curious as to what justifies a police department having equipment that allows them to monitor us 24/7.

Most people have no problem using drones for recon in certain military situations. But if you don’t see a huge issue with using them routinely for police reasons here at home, spying regularly on innocent civilians, I don’t know what will change your mind. Get ready for thousands of SWAT type raids justified by some some @#$%^&! at a drone screen who thinks he/she/it sees something suspicious. You will end up with a tank rolling thru your living room.

A change in the national mood is allowing a police state mentality to develop. People no longer want freedom and accept indignities that would not have been tolerated a generation ago.

Such as the Voting Rights Act? And what about some laws that have been eliminated? Such as laws against miscegenation? There are some new regulations which diminish the freedom of corporations to pollute the air and the water — but which increase the freedom of people in general to lead healthy lives. A lot depends on what you’re looking at.

    More drone jokes!

Not to worry when everyone has an assault rifle.

Realistically? No difference. Politically, less invasive, no troops, less conspicuous. Politicians like it because they can talk about killing Al Qaeda and not conducting a full scale war. Of course all that logic is crap, because war is war, killing people (including the innocents) is the same however you accomplish it. The military (and politicians) consider the innocents killed in terms of “acceptable losses.” The sooner we get out of the middle east the better.
