Ender’s Game is the future, except the future is upon us, pal! It’ll be so easy to get those teenage video gamers to pilot drones and robot soldiers. They won’t care who they’re killing, as long as they get top score.

Hey Ted, obviously you have a real problem with drones. Bush used them and now O does too. Just like any military technique, as long as its eliminating threats and saving our troops lives, I have no problem with them. Should we ban them because mistakes have happened? How about banning tanks too?

ConserveGov: many people have problem with drones. Drone attacks are not simply unethical, but also counter-productive. Drone attacks are making enemies faster than we can kill them.
If some other country started routinely blowing people up in the US, you’d probably start violently hating that country. Look how crazy the US went after 9/11. Now imagine the reaction if there were a decade of continual attacks on the US instead of just one attack.

Several of our local suburbs have been trying to eliminate trash picking. So far they have decided that if no one makes a mess it’s OK.

Such as the Voting Rights Act? And what about some laws that have been eliminated? Such as laws against miscegenation? There are some new regulations which diminish the freedom of corporations to pollute the air and the water — but which increase the freedom of people in general to lead healthy lives. A lot depends on what you’re looking at.

We should not be fighting a war in Afghanistan. We never should have gone in, and we should get out as fast as we possibly can.

Sorry Doc, but I don’t take responsibility for your kid going hungry because you were too busy to plant a crop because you were trying to kill someone in a fight YOU started. I’m as much a bleeding heart as the next guy, but I refuse to take responsibility for casualties brought on by the other guys actions.

Put as simply as possible. The guy shooting at me is “the enemy”. I don’t care why and I don’t care what he’s wearing. It’s kill or be killed and I choose survival. And a good chunk of those who criticize soldiers for that viewpoint are the first in line to request that we protect them. Nor am I going to pull out my crystal ball to try to see into the future about who might get installed in power. We deal with what we have. Perhaps the problem is that you are looking at Hobbit and we are dealing with the ugly step-sister called reality.

Doc and DredOnce upon a time I was a medic. I wasn’t going to kill people. I was going to help people. To make sure everyone knew that I wore a red cross on my arm and more on my helmet..I got shot. Not by accident. He was aiming at me.When I recovered, I got rid of the “crosshairs” and got a gun. I still did a medics job, but when they shot at me now, I shot back.Excuse me if I’m not as forgiving as I might be.
