Laws that require anti-abortion protesters to keep a set distance away from women entering abortion clinics are unconstitutional, the supreme court says. (Man 1: Abortion is a matter of life and death. Under free speech, people who are trying to save lives have the right to get in the face of those who kill children.) I like where this is going. (MURDERER!!)
It’s kind of an odd decision given the partisan cast of the Supreme Court. Allowing anti-abortion protesters to do just about anything they want in front of an abortion clinic will lead to physical conflict and get people excited about abortion and other reproductive rights. The people who get excited will tend to vote Democratic, especially young single women, who already vote 2-1 or 3-1 for Democrats. The net result is that the chances of the Democrats this year and in 2016 will be enhanced. On the other hand, the more the Democrats are likely to win, the further Right the leadership will move. So maybe it’s a class thing, rather than a party thing.
