Ted Rall for June 24, 2004
Transcript:
Ahead of the competition. June 20, 2004: Afghan troops retaliate against the Taliban's beheading of 2 men by beheading 4 Taliban. (Man: They cut off their heads with a knife so when we arrested 4 Taliban, we cut off their heads too.) Half a world away, white house officials are inspired to avenge the beheadings of 2 Americans by Al Qaeda. (Bush: They decapitated Neck Berg and Paul Johnson, so we chopped the heads off 4 Al Qaeda detainees from Guantanamo!) Human rights activists express reservations. (Woman: Only the U.S. Supreme Court can lop off heads. It's somewhere in the law.) (Man 2: Also, we can't double their rate of head choppage. We can only go one head for one.) Fortunately, lawyers give the thumbs up. (Man 3: September 11, new kind of enemy. Don't wear uniforms, conclusion: decapitate at will. Geneva doesn't apply.) (Bush: Take that, enemies of civilization!)
