    What exactly is supposed to be happening in panel 2?
    Did the fat chief just trip and fall down? Or did the man on the left hit him?

    chief got the shield and lance from the “2 guards”, and I guess we supposed to believe the shield was too big for the chief? ………….. but if “that was the case”, the chief should have fallen “frontward” and not sitting on his butt

    Maybe the pumpkin on the chief’s head got too heavy? Weird headdresses must run in the family; his son is wearing rabbit ears.

    @PatyAnn

    I think that the action is well explained. The chief is a fat and short man and he takes the shield and spear from very tall warriors, the weapons touching the dirt combined with the sudden movement make him fall.

    You made a fool of yourself big fatso pumpkin head! This so-called “chief” looks like a baby in leopard skin diapers in the last panel! Someone….PLEASE….spear this troll and put us out of his misery! What say you, B’wana Q? :)> Umgowa!!

    If the chief can sing like Cee-Lo, then all is forgiven (seems like the chief should be belting out “F You” right about now). I love Ngura’s rabbit ears, they’re the bees knees!

    Isn’t the headdress feathers? The artist has usually used 19th century US natives as his templates for the Africans. And the younger men would have fewer feathers, but two is a little skimpy for the crown prince.

    Pippi Longstocking could pick up that old fat chief with one hand. With two she could lift and hug the chief and his two burly guards with ease but she isn’t in Africa right now.

    Now is the time to take over, Ngura. Grab him by the ears and kick his butt out of the village.

    The chief shield rushed his son, who stood his ground and dumped his father on his bum.
    Son has demonstrated he is both stronger and a better warrior than his father.
