and the Daytona 500 was started BECAUSE they wouldn’t let a NASCAR racer run (of course, people only go to watch the races to see the crashes, but whatever …) The only clips shown are “start, finish and CRASHES”

While NASCAR has certainly had its well-deserved troubles, Formula 1 racing has definitely lost the interest of American viewers and is declining in attendance, world-wide.

Formula 1 never had the “bubble” that NASCAR popularity did, but I always found road racing more interesting and a more formidable test of driving skils than stadium racing.
