As I said yesterday, Lance Armstrong isn’t the most-deserving of this “honor.” Lance’s transgressions happened in previous years.
On the other hand, Gary Bettman flipped off the very fans that pay the extortionate ticket prices, extortionate concession prices and merchandise prices. He nearly destroyed the NHL season and alienated thousands of fans.
Many NHL venues now have tickets available when for years, you couldn’t obtain a ticket because they were constantly sold out.

Agree with you Ashburn. Lance may be a jerk, but Bettman screwed over people who really care. Armstrong is set for a repeat after his session with Oprah.

I think I would have gone with Melky Cabrera, for his behavior towards opposing baseball fans during the season. My guess is that, hereafter, he will be forever booed when he returns to Atlanta.

Yes, Armwrong’s CHEATING, LIES AND BULLYING happened in years other than 2012,, but it all came out in 2012. So yes, he is the Sports Jerk of the Year 2012! Arguing he shouldn’t be eligible because what he did happened in other years is an odd take on it. Perhaps murderers should only be charged with murder in the same year they committed the crime? In that case, watch out for December 31st, the death toll will rise dramatically. Lance Armstrong deserves this award, he also deserves syphillis, herpes, gonorrhea, shingles, and several good punches to the nose!

A lifetime achievement award sounds great. I’m torn between Bobby Knight and Randy Moss. But it’s hard to ignore Roger, Barry and Lance. And does dying disqualify a person for the award? If not, Marge Schott and Robert Irsay have earned consideration.

And if you want to give the SJOY to Gary Bettman, he’s got to share it with his employers, the 30 NHL Owners, who are the ones who actually called for the lockout.

I not think lance should get it alone. How many kids are out there because thier sports dad did not wear a condom. How many women have std because of these sport figures. Tiger woods said it best when he said I believed I deserved all those women tossing themselves at me but I was wrong. How about the ones that moslest children. sorry lance is up there but not were near the top

Armstrong was a strong contender, all right. But I still maintain that the human gargoyle, Bud Selig, has deeper and stronger repulsive traits and actions than Sword Legstrong.

Lance is a good choice for 2012 and maybe he can be retroactively awarded it to replace his now gone 7 tour titles.
His action when charged by USADA with his attacks on his former teammates, dragging thing out and then down even lower before finally admitting that he cheated and lied makes him a great choice for jerk of the year.
