Instead of “PEDS,” there ought to be punctuation (“P.E.D.s”) to denote that it’s an acronym. In these all-caps word balloons, it’s possible to read that as “Peds,” which has a buncha different meanings.

For example, I read it initially as short for “pediatrics” (pronounced with a long “e”), and I had to wonder for a second about professional baseball players who were also pediatricians. (They got those in the Hall of Fame?)

Tank is as intolerant as the rest. Why not legalize PEDs? Then nobody could complain. How does anybody know conclusivedly those athlletes wouldn’t have achieved the same greatness without them?

Don’t give them any temptation. MLB is greedy enough as it is.
If these players who used P.E.D.‘s get in the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, they should also reinstate Joe Jackson, who was the least-culpable of all of the 1919 “Black Sox.”
I thought his ban was lifetime – he’s been dead for more than 60 years.

Barry Bonds should be inducted alongside Pete Rose. ;-)

I think anyone caught should be banned for life on the First Offense. Why should they get a break the first time? They knew they were cheating when they did the first time. Allowing PED’s into any sport pressure non-users to take them to stay even. Punish them hard.

Voters to the Baseball HOF are hypocrites. If you put a substance in your body and hit 750+ home runs, you’re inelligible. But if you put the substance on the ball and win 300+ games, you’re voted in.

Interesting observation. You can find one of my Buzz Beamer cartoons about questionable pitching advantages here: http://www.sikids.com/buzzs-laugh-locker/the-inside-buzz

Of course, steroid use is a violation of federal law whereas a spitball or scuffed ball is merely a violation of baseball rules. Seems to be a difference there……..

Marvin Miller is the reason MLB has been priced out of the reach of the average family. I nominate him for Sports Jerk of the Year posthumously.

If Ty Cobb is in, then ANY baseball player should get in.

AshburnStadium is right, Joe Jackson is now dead and should be inducted. When Pete Rose dies, he should be eligible. When Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens die, they should be eligible. Thus we could honor the achievements, while not honoring the cheaters.

And gambling and drug use are not in a class with “stealing signals” or “spitballs.”

    Damn skippy.
    .
One of my favourite lines in “Field of Dreams” is (more or less; it’s ben a while) “Even Ty Cobb wanted to some, but, shoot, none of us could stand that sonuvabitch when we was alive.”
