They seem to be blind to the obvious. I do not blame a child for this for any of it. All on the Parents first, then owner and that poor “safety officer” that failed in his duty.

Another case for a Darwin award for the instructor, and a “What would stupid do” plaque for her parents.

The way things are trending it could happen again and again if allowed to.

    Yeah, what could go wrong?

After all, it is a proven fact that guns don’t kill people….

Put one on your table and ask it to kill someone.

I am a bit confused. Aren’t fully automatic weapons considered to be “weapons of mass destruction” since 9/11? Aren’t they controlled under the U.N. charters of “weapons of war”? I know that in Germany you end your life in prison if found with an UZI. Is America really that backwards? Pity…

I learned to hunt when I was 10-11.
But it was with a SINGLE SHOT .410.
Giving a 9 Yr old a fully auto 9mm sub gun, was asking for trouble.

    I am a bit confused.

Fully automatic weapons such as machine guns are illegal for individuals in the US unless you have a relatively expensive “special tax stamp”. But gun ranges can and do rent them for use— on their range only.

“People accuse me of being a single-issue writer, a single-issue thinker, and a single-issue voter, but it isn’t true. What I’ve chosen, in a world where there’s never enough time and energy, is to focus on the one political issue which most clearly and unmistakably demonstrates what any politician — or political philosophy — is made of, right down to the creamy liquid center.
Make no mistake: all politicians — even those ostensibly on the side of guns and gun ownership — hate the issue and anyone, like me, who insists on bringing it up. They hate it because it’s an X-ray machine. It’s a Vulcan mind-meld. It’s the ultimate test to which any politician — or political philosophy — can be put.
If a politician isn’t perfectly comfortable with the idea of his average constituent, any man, woman, or responsible child, walking into a hardware store and paying cash — for any rifle, shotgun, handgun, machinegun, anything — without producing ID or signing one scrap of paper, he isn’t your friend no matter what he tells you.” (L. Neil Smith, libertarian gun nut)

Aside from the obvious message in this inane accident too many people think guns make them more free and independent.

Guns do neither and guns kill lots of innocent people. Look at the blacks shot by police lately then ask yourself would this happen in England? Their Bobbies (aka police) carry no guns and it is illegal to own guns without permits. I don’t hear them complaining about lack of freedom.

BTW I own 2 guns, locked with no ammo in our home. Strictly for “plinking” targets. My brother’s neighbor shot their own son coming home from college for a surprise visit at night. When guns abound such things happen.

Someday we will “be free of guns” or at least most of them?

If you get a class 3 License you can own a fully automatic weapon. Plus gun laws differ from state to state. I “THINK” Nevada allows on range rental.

    @Michyle Glen

As far as I can tell, a Class 3 License is a special Occupational Tax Class License for Firearm Dealers.

    Federal Firearms Licenses

This Wiki page explains the hoops you have to jump through to get an automatic weapon. (The tax stamp isn’t as expensive as I thought, only $200, but the gun itself can run $10 grand).

But I’m no expert. I could be wrong.

Meanwhile, if you’re a BLACK kid, you get shot just for being suspected of having a gun.
