    Obama belongs in the cockpit. The Sequester was his idea.

    The sequester was Obama’s idea just as much as it was your idea to give away your wallet when a mugger says “your money or your life.” It was an extortion, with the full faith and credit of the United States of America at risk. He and the GOP both knew the sequester was a terrible idea, it was supposed to help create compromise. The GOP was, and still is, incapable of compromise. They’ve gotten $2 trillion in cuts for $600 billion in taxes. Now they say no increased revenue ever again. Sorry, that’s not what the voters said in 2012. They lost the senate, lost the presidency, and lost the popular vote in the house, though they kept power. The president’s offer of 2/3 spending cuts and 1/3 tax increases is extremely reasonable given the circumstances.

    Obviously the Sequester threat didn’t bother the Republicans who want to cut no matter what damage it does to our slow, weak recovery.

    The nation is polarized and the blame will be placed on “the other guy.”

    I guess you choose to ignore the tax increases (without any spending cuts) that the GOP agreed to late last year. Typical Gimmie. I want, I want, I want and if you don’t gimmie I’ll blame you for all of my bad spending decisions.

    @Chillbilly

    The Blame falls squarely on Obama as he agreed to tough Budget Cuts if The House Increased taxes on The Rich. The Rich increased taxes, now Obama wants to renege on his deal to tough budget cuts. This is why The Republicans have to use sequester is because Obama lied to get Tax Increases, he had zero intention to cut spending.

    The “sequester” actually goes back to Gramm, Rudmann, Hollings, another thing Phil Gramm got us into.

    @Tigger I am sorry to have to inform you, but all the latest pols show that by far the greater number of American voters are going to blame the Republican majority ( which is a majority only because of blatant gerrymandering) in the House of Representatives, and not President Obama. Just like the same pols showed President Obama being re-elected (which he was)!

    President Obama had to agree to this sequester plan (actually it was never to get this far, as the super committee was to resolve the political differences, but both sides failed to compromise even there) in order to preserve the full faith and credit of the US by raising the debt limit at the time. Even then, our credit was somewhat downgraded because of all the bickering brought on mostly be the tea party types in the House of Representatives. You know this, you just refuse to even admit that President Obama could be even the slightest bit correct in anything at all!!

    And the next hurdle that the tea party types will make for our government is the governmental shutdown coming up at the end of March. Remember that historically did not work out very well for the Republicans when they tried it before former President Clinton was re-elected. How do you think that is going to work out in 2014, when despite the gerrymandering the Republican party will effectively cease to exist, if they cause such a disruption again?

    Just because this comment board is infested with ultra conservative types that believe that our current President is some kind of evil devil, does not mean that the rest of the country thinks the same way!!
