Interesting, if questionable statistic. Does it take into consideration woman who are in nonpaying positions? Probably lots more women employed as unpaid caregivers, homemakers.

…. as a woman who quite often was the higher earner I can say this: he only loves you as long as you pay…. I would never again date a man who earns considerably less than me.

Out of work = Loser guy desperate enough to date older single woman.
Older single woman = Men will only date her if she pays.
    You’ve done better, Jan.

    How Sad.

My wife made more than I did when she was a RN an I was a LVN then orderly (moved states, no reciprocity) but now I make more than her (GEOINT analyst, RN in a staff management position.)

We are still together and I told her recently, (still paying for one kid’s college and another in college,) she should quit or go part time – working conditions were out of hand.) When she put her resignation in (wonder of wonders, [sarcasm,]) the company scrambled to rectify things but we would have made it on my income and I would have been happy (even honored) to be her spouse in any situation.

I agree that the man should be equal. It IS nice if he pays when you go out, but I’m as happy going to a free public event or just walking or “antiquing” (at which nothing may be bought). If I invite a man to something, I expect to pay.

When I used a website to find my current love, I DID reject those men who I could not determine were free of attachments and had the 2nd date at their house so that I could assess many things about them before getting serious. The first date was just at a mall and there was considerable online and other chatting before that. The site also had many tests and questionnaires that we both could fill and allowed more exchange of photos (of all types) so it worked for me. Our mall meeting was Dec. 5th and he walked me to my car at the end of that and gave me a kiss that (sealed it for me).

Who pays should always be based on who asked about the date. If the woman asks she pays, if he asks he pays. If it’s a “we should go out some time”, “Yea we should” “want to meet somewhere” then it’s dutch. easy peasy.

That’s not what I’ve been reading. I’ve read it’s mostly women getting laid off, not men. As for equality being a b1tch, well we havn’t got that yet in many ways. Not til women make the same money as men (which will never happen) and men do an equal part of the household duties. Which will also never happen!

My hubby, God rest his soul, was definitely a man who did more than an equal part of the household duties. I had a broken collar bone and a replaced hip as well as other problems (i.e., chicken pox) so he took over a lot of the duties. Besides that, he was the most kind, gentlest human being everyone met.

Women will make as much as men when they stop taking time off to have babies or to tend a sick child, or when they are as willing to take hazardous jobs, or to travel half the time, etc. When gender differences and personal choices are excluded, women make as much as men with one exception: beautiful women make much more than men.
