Arnold: Welcome to my South African abode! Are you hungry? I can fix you something... Arnold: I have Kudu steaks...ostrich...both delicious. Gramma Evie: Maybe something a little less...National Geographic. Arnold: Got it! Rice and veggies for the tourist.
Ostrich is delicious and supposed to lower in cholesterol than beef, mutton, chicken etc. I’ve never tried kudu but I do enjoy game meat generally. However, although kudu and ostrich is available in most suprmarkets most South Africans eat beef, mutton, pork, chicken and fish. Wait until Evie is introduced to her first South African braaivleis; a barbecue in the rest of the world. Braaivleis is almost our national past time; it is definitely our favourite way to entertain friends in our sunny land.
