Jan Eliot's funny and irreverent Stone Soup follows the saga of an extended, blended family, starring two working-mom sisters living just across the fence from each other. Val and Joan share life with their opinionated mother, a middle-school diva and 10-year-old tomboy, a reclusive teenage boy, a wild preschooler and his new baby sister...and of course Wally, the ultimate nice guy who steps into his stepdad shoes with grace amid the chaos. Working-parent hassles, pre-school tantrums, middle-school angst, love and the single mom... it's all here in Stone Soup.

Holly gets it from her alternately clueless and psycho mom…
Little House wasn’t much better at times. They just shot people sometimes, like when that one dufuss went nuts and shot his family and then thought Laura and kid were his family.

Six Hours???? When I was a kid on the farm, we would go WEEKS without power during ice storms… Suck it up Holly!

Didn’t Little House on the Prairie end with every building in town being blown up? Val, Holly, Alix, be thankful you weren’t in Quebec for the Ice Storm a few years ago; some stores tried selling generators at five to ten times the list price!
Further comment; don’t bring up the Donner Party, Holly! Think about it; can’t sacrifice Val, she’s the adult; Alix is the smallest and requires less sustenance; that leaves only … .

ghostkeeper that was the last day of the show. Someone bougth the town except of little house ma and pa house wasn’t sold. Towns people were upset and Laura came up the idea they can run us out but who said they could have the homes so they blew them up to rubble.
This strip reminds me of a few years ago of ice storm we had power outage scattered and massive. My mom lives in a small town was out for a whole week, A cousin lived up the street I not sure may have generater or had power assisted her with water and food. Place my sister lived no power a day or two longer came up with a way to have somewhat power. I can understand how kids feel. Stuck at home nothing to do. One can only clean for so long.

Good grief what a scenario. None of that happened in the book!

Yeah, I didn’t remember that at all. Maybe my parents didn’t let me watch that. God knows, today someone would think that would be “cool” to do and try and blow up their town.

Uh huh… Have you ever been over Donner pass in the Sierra’s? Where most of the Donner party had to eat each other to stay alive after getting caught in a blizzard before they made it by wagon train to the lower elevations of California?? Not a pretty picture.

When I googled it I got “Donner Party Catering”. I’m not sure that would have a great business plan.

“Little House” (book) never had any of that.TV producers would put in a car chase if they could, and the average viewer would believe it.
