Joan: Sis? What's up? Val: Nothing. Just playing the piano. Joan: It's 2:30 in the morning. Is there something on your mind? Val: I'm a single Mom with two daughters and a full-time job. My car is on its last legs, and now my oldest daughter has started skipping school. But no, there's nothing on my mind because - I have no mind.
When you’re overtired, one would wish they had a keyboard with headphones but other than that distracting yourself with an involved mental and physical hobby you enjoy can get you out of the mental what’s-wrong snowball. Hope she’s playing something soothing for Max and Alixs’ sakes, and her mom’s, and so Joan can choose to offer advise, distraction, or go to bed. And maybe for Wally, if the piano and his bed are each where sound can carry over. But it can be something Holly hates. And will run through her head over and over for 3 days.
