    Democrats should be embarrassed by the government’s outrageous behavior and should be demanding full accountability from the IRS.

    When we were promised “the most transparent administration in history”, I didn’t expect it would refer to the quality of the lies.

    Hmm, had my laptop drive die several computers ago, and even the backup disk was found to be corrupted!! Lost a book. But nobody else has ever had that happen

    On several computer issues btw; with airplanes as well as hard drives crashing because of computer (not human) error, it’s reasonable to accept. Having watched the computer crud CONTRACTED by government, destroy huge amounts of data, and even lives, maybe folks should review how much of “government” is actually done by contractors, MANDATED BY CONGRESS, even on occasion “law” so specific it mandates exactly, almost to the man, who the agencies must hire for the job or product.

    Until the next Republican administration. At which point all government agencies’ records preservation will suddenly and miraculously become perfect.

    @TripleAxel

    Many of us, regardless of political stripe, are embarrassed by outrageous behavior in many areas of government. It is true we should be demanding accountability. We need to temper this by remembering that people are innocent until proven guilty, and what we have now in this case is more innuendo and assumption than proof. Patience is a virtue.

    If criminal behavior is found, regardless of political affiliation, it should be punished. Making this a political issue undermines the larger argument, and also helps to continue the us-vs.-them mentality that is slowly but surely corroding our free society. I don’t know about you, but I see no value in devolving into Sunni-vs.-Shia-type warfare. If you feel that’s an exaggeration, I refer you to the “militia” that quickly and gleefully gathered to help scofflaw Cliven Bundy “defend” himself against “rogue FBI agents”. I see no reason to encourage this behavior. You may feel differently.

    Last year. Before I was even in your class. And I have the paperwork from the computer shop to prove it. But don’t let that stop you from flunking me anyway.

    The idea that there was a plot to crash one hard drive two years ago because Republicans might want to see it in 2014 is ridiculous on its face. If Lerner had actually wanted to remove any suspicious emails, she would have simply deleted them (like the Bush’s deleted emails about the illegal Valerie Plame outing). Crashing a hard drive on purpose is not easy. And there was no scandal at the IRS to cover up.
