“And while I’m waiting, you don’t mind if I crank up, ‘Wrecking Ball’, right?”

Morsi and Hamas belong to the same (cross-Arabic) party, called the Brotherhood. Under Morsi, the Egyptian economy crashed (most say due to Morsi’s mismanagement), and the majority of Egyptians wanted a way to remove an incompetent sitting president (although that was strictly unconstitutional under the Constitution Morsi wrote for Egypt).

So Sisi removed Morsi from office and took over, and Sisi is from a very anti-Brotherhood (and so anti-Hamas) party.

Which makes Egypt a rather strange peacemaker, except that there’s no one else available.

So that was Obama’s plan. Back the worse in Egypt, The most radical, Brotherhood. Let Egypt lose a year. Now Egypt, who was very stable was able to throw them out and out law a spawn of Al Qu Da. So much so they recognize Israel has a spawn of Radical Muslims they can not get rid of. To bad Hamas, Radical Islam in Palestine is an institutional hate that goes back generations who proclaim to wipe out the Jew, Kill the Jew.
Yes I said Palestine is full of those who in their own words love death as much as Israel loves life. That it is a multi generational Hate that is taught by parents to children. So go luck, I do not think the Spinx will be able to solve this. They started with a modern non radical Islamic state. So despite Obama and Hillary and Kerry backing the Radicals they were able to go back to Modern Islam. What is Palestine going back to?

If Hamas lays down its weapons there would be peace. If Israel lays down its weapons they would be wiped off the map.

^ Ah, yes; the simplistic black-and-white thinking of the modern day conservative on full display.

Israel has a choice of laying down its weapons, surrendering, and dying, or it can lock up several million Palestinians in concentration camps for their entire lives and blow up their homes and businesses should any one of them step out of line.

Tell me, Tim; can you imagine any OTHER course of action Israel might take between those two extremes?

Back in the late 1990s, humor columnist Dave Barry wrote “25 Things I Have Learned in 50 Years”. One of them was (I paraphrase) “There will never be peace in the Middle East. A million years from now, when all life on Earth has been reduced to microbes, the Jewish microbes and the Palestinian microbes will still be bitter enemies.”

^Start by giving back the land they’ve been stealing since ‘67? How about heeding any of the sanctions they’ve ignored, since ’48 actually?

Every time Israel DOES have leaders who try to “play by the rules”, they tend to get assassinated, have strokes, or are replaced by more radical elements from the ETSEL to Likud transition history. Israel DOES have a right to exist, but THEY need to recognize, with their massive military complex, and nuclear weapons, it is THEIR responsibility to be willing to CO-exist.
