    In my 67 years I’ve only eaten a twinkie once. It was just ok.

    Actually, they did it just before the company went out of business. The question is what they did to extend it. My understanding is that retailers had been asking Hostess for a while to keep them frozen until they’re delivered to stores in order to extend the shelf life.

    @Jase99

    Can’t see where shelf life could be an issue. I worked in a shop in Cleveland where someone I knew had nailed a Twinkie to the wall TWO YEARS earlier.
    Didn’t it eat, but it sure seemed like new.

    Word is the new version will have a SHORTER shelf life. Poor little things are just sponge cake and (originally) lard, which was then exchanged for “mystery filling”.

    Which btw, going through some of my dad’s old formulas from decades ago, and it’s amazing how many call for lard (lots of lard) in those baked goods, that have now substituted polyunsaturated fats, that may be worse for you, especially with all those chemical “stabilizers”.

    “Not suffering himself” might be more accurate.

    Dear Comrade Benson: Twinkies aren’t why people get fat.

    This is such a non-issue. The company failed through the greed of management. It produced products that both wasted food and contributed to the compromised the health of their patrons.

    Greed is destructive.

    The management. Read what really happened. And note that the new Hostess does not have unions anymore. So blaming them is sort of stupid.
