@Harlan: LOL. Yeah. Let’s see. The US – while at “war” (term used very loosely) with a “concept” killed an American born (new mexico) man that – according to the NYT, “had been perhaps the most prominent English-speaking advocate of violent jihad against the United States, with his message carried extensively over the Internet. His online lectures and sermons had been linked to more than a dozen terrorist investigations in the United States, Britain and Canada. Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan had exchanged e-mails with Mr. Awlaki before the deadly shooting rampage on Fort Hood, Texas, in 2009. Faisal Shahzad, who tried to set off a car bomb in Times Square in May, 2010, cited Mr. Awlaki as an inspiration.” This man fit the description of “traitor” very well and while I may not agree with the action it was well within the authority the constitution gives the President of the US.

Iran – allegedly – hired a Mexican Drug Cartel to kill an ambassador to the US from Saudi Arabia on American soil. Why we are such “friends” with the Saudi’s is a mystery to me BUT we do have good relations (for the oil I guess) and want to maintain them. So if that had happened it may have put a strain on the relationship. How does that equate to carrying out a military mission unless – of course – you are willing to admit that Iran is at war with the US and it’s allies.
The few allies we have left.

Old French Proverb: The more things change the more they are the same. The only thing that George Orwell got wrong in his 1949 book “1984” is that his vision of the future, as projected in “1984,” was already in place and happening; and continues to this day.

We haven’t assassinated any Iranians in a long time.
But, we have plenty of Hellfire missiles if they want in on the fun.
