According to the little text that came wirth the CD, 1755 formed in Moncton’s nightclubs in the late 1970s. One day, at Université de Moncton’s famous Kacho student nightclub, the frontman asked student poet Gérald Leblanc “Hey, you write poems, why don’t you write song lyrics?” And together they made acadian music enter the modern age.

One of their songs is “rue Dufferin”, a little anthem to the streets of Moncton. At one point it says:

“Les vieilles anglaises (the old english ladies)
L’aut bord de la rue (across the street)
Aiment pas mon chien (don’t like my dog)
Mais ça fait rien (but that’s no problem)
Y les aime pas lui non plus!” (He doesn’t like them either!)
