Fellow country men/women stop trying to out patriot each other. It’s not real and it’s creating havoc and in that condition NOTHING gets done!

Yes, it’s a day all Americans should stop ‘caring’ what the rest of the world ‘thinks about us’. They don’t give a crap what anyone else thinks of them.

But shouldn’t we set the standard instead of following the lower one? Charlie Sheen may well be "winning’, but at what moral cost?

Let me, a ruthless critic of everything American, give you the present of some kind words on this day:

You’re very cool and easy going people. You’re very effective at work. You’re great designers. You’ve made our lives very easy and comfortable with the technologies you developed. You remain THE symbol of freedom in the world. Your cars are really big, smooth and cool. You’re the eternal optimists. You’ve landed on the moon. You’ve elected your first black president. You’re good at heart.

Each of these statements can be discussed and dissected, but not today. Happy fourth, everybody!

My neighbors put a flag out on their front porch recently. They didn’t realize how low the bracket really was, and the flag dragged on the ground for over a week. Their “fix” was to partially roll up the flag. They don’t even take it in at night or keep a light on by it. I try not to look when I walk past their house, but it really irritates me.

If you’re going to do the whole Yankee Doodle “my flag is bigger than yours, so I’m a better patriot than you” crap, at least treat your flag with respect!

Fully agree… If you need to have a flag up at least respect what it stands for – which isn´t just a colored piece of cloth. A flag touching the ground is the same as admitting defeat, but I guess they are oblivious to that.

“In most important categories (i. e., concerning quality of life) we’re not even in the Top 10 anymore. Not even close. The U.S.A. is ‘No. 1’ in nothing but weaponry, consumer spending, debt, and delusion.” Michael Ventura, quoted in John Tirman, 100 Ways America Is Screwing Up The World, p. 197

(This may be a long post. You’ve been warned…. )
    .
Briscoe got one thing right: Explosions. They’re required by law, if you read what the Constitution says about this day. Here in Florida, people drank more water (and similar liquids) while outdoors due to our usual hot Summer. (Some people even got lucky and got rained on – again, as per usual in Florida.) They watched the fireworks go up – whether they were legal or not. (If you don’t have that special permit from the State, don’t have Wildlife next door to you & don’t take the proper precautions, you could get arrested for the “shooting-up-into-the-sky” type fireworks. I can see why; if said fireworks landed on your neighbor’s roof and caught fire… or you scared any pets in the area, it’s not nice no matter how pretty it looks from your back yard.) Many grilled/bought BBQ to bring with them to said legal spots to eat. (Me, I opted for fish & fresh Root Beer instead. : 9 ) Many listened to local radio stations while watching said fireworks.
    .
Were these people trying to out-patriot each other? Well, probably in the way they dressed; but otherwise, they acted as they usually acted every day. To the rest of the World, it’s just another day, just like to Canadians, July 1st is “their” Day. (To me, it isn’t – it’s my eldest brother’s birthday. He’s 53 now.) To Americans, July 4, 2012 is the 236th Birthday of the ratification of the Declaration of Independence, when we told King James of Britain basically to “bugger off” and let the People lead Ourselves.
…And more or less, we have done exactly that. One of the Freedoms we have is the Right to Free Speech —that is, we can say what we like no matter what others think about us. To those of you who come here from other Countries: It may look like we’re divided, but just try to attack us. (Osama bin Laden found that out after 9/11/01.) Then it’s “E Pluribus Unum” (Latin for “Out of many, One”) as we unite to fight for our Freedoms. Some Americans may not understand what the attack is about, but would still come together to defend our Country.
    .
Sorry, Wabbit —it’s in my blood. I’m a 10th generation direct descendant of a Tanner (someone who makes leather from hides) who fought in the Revolutionary War. (And yes, that can be proven, but don’t talk to me. Genealogy is my Mother’s hobby, not mine.)

I agree with gricks. You’re spamming, dude, and that’s against many forums’ TOS.
    .
People… if you’re going to say something, please (a) keep it relative to the cartoon, (b) somewhat brief (unless you post a notice that it’s going to be a long post), and © to whatever point you’re trying to make!
If I Flag your post you’re either spamming or spouting generalities, which are never true!

“What? I was just looking for an excuse to draw a busty girl in a bikini.”

    1) Do you really need an excuse to draw a busty bikini clad lady?
    2) Couldn’t you at least draw an attractive bikini clad guy for readers not interested in the lady?
