Actually, it’s a dog biscuit, which would be somewhat heavier, but I wouldn’t have expected it to have quite that much heft, unless that was how they made them back then.

I realize it was a dog biscuit. I was making a joke. If you ever see any of the hard tack at a reenactment you would understand. During the Civil War, soldiers broke their teeth on the hard tack.
