    Until it hits home, like when Clinton ignored OBL for years.

    Osama bin Laden? Isn’t he the guy George W Bush said wasn’t a top priority and didn’t spend a lot of time worrying about him?

    @Woody 157, and @Tigger
    It just goes to show that flying far above doesn’t make you safe. You can try to stay away from the conflicts, but eventually they’ll come to you.
    I don’t know if it was intended, but this toon gets a much stronger meaning in light of these past days’ events.

    So, why is it that country like Canada isn’t overrun by terrorists? They seem to be able to keep their nose out of everyone else’s business.

    “Until it hits home, like when Clinton ignored OBL for years.”

    Let’s check our history, shall we? Mr. Reagan armed and supported him. Mr. GHW Bush, by your definition (not necessarily by my definition, but I’m following you here), “ignored” him for four years. Mr. Clinton did too, but for 8 years. Mr. GWBush only had less than a year to ignore him, but interestingly less than a year after 9/11/01, he admitted to ignoring him again.

    Now, who was it who was in the White House when someone stopped ignoring OBL? Can you help me?

    and @tigger:
    I am quite sure Ms. Wilkinson knows about current events. To suggest that this is coincidental implies that she knows less than the posters on this site. If that were the case, she would be truly unqualified for her work.

    I see it for the irony it portrays, as Mr.D points out.

    Cinci, Bill Clinton did act, at least on one occasion I recall. We had intelligence that Osama would be at a certain training camp in Afghanistan. The Navy fired long-range drone missiles in, and did hit the camp! But, Osama had already moved on.

    And, Bill DID tell George that Osama bin Laden, and Al-Qaeda posed the greatest threat to the U.S.

    But, given the Bush family’s ties to the Saud family, and other agendas on his & Dick’s minds, we were left vulnerable.

    I think the point is that isolation is only an illusion.

    I’m getting a little fed up with folks sticking to just their own country’s news agencies. I spent some time the last couple of days watching RT TV news; even though I find RT’s reporting deplorable blatant propaganda, watching interviews of fleeing Eastern Ukrainian refugees did make me pause.
    Quite a few news channels in the West are no better than RT.
