Suicide you mean? How many a month for veterans now, and counting? Does it take a few murders and THEN a suicide for people to pay attention?

Whatever the question, guns are the ultimate answer, aren’t they?

Give me guns or give me death. Why must these sad csses take others with them?

The son of a family friend was in the first golf war and developed PTSD. He absolutely refused to seek treatment or talk about his experience. He instead self medicated with the sauce, a problem he also refused to get help for. He eventually shot his brains out in his family’s home, leaving his wife and kids to discover the body.

The military should be giving psychological evaluations to ALL active duty personnel before discharge as a mater of routine.

Treatment is available, but funding for it was reduced by the previous administration (who sent these men and women off to fight its war).

It is a sad fact that some who need professional help refuse it. This is where family and friends come in. But, there is only so much they can do for those who enlisted to contribute to the defense of our country. Instead of reducing Veteran’s benefits ten years ago, Cheney, Rumsfeld & Bush should have increased them.

Previously, I never stooped to answer any of your spittals. But after reading this……. YOU ARE REALLY OUT OF IT.

Or maybe, just maybe, the US gub’ment should stop starting and funding unconstitutional wars and sending solidiers to occupy foreign countries and kill innocent civilians. Then there would not be veterans coming home and trying to reconcile what started out as believing the BS that they were “protecting our freedoms” with the realization that they were just doing the dirty work of corporations and their political cronies.

Give disabled veterans all the help they need – and stop disabling more.

The real question is, why did they not give him the day off when he asked for it?

I’m just going to point out that the gun did not go off by itself, nor did it convince the shooter to do this. So easy to blame the gun, so hard to understand why people snap and become violent.

Except that I served in war, and didn’t turn into what the Ft Hood shooter became.

It was Reagan who sent a cake to the Ayatollah Khomeini, not a Democrat.

I wasn’t sure if Obama made additional cuts. If he did, as you point out, shame on him too. But, I distinctly remember all the hullabaloo when cuts were made by George W. My point is, NO cuts should have been made by anyone, and should be, at least, restored.

    Thank you for the correction.
