Floating homes are really cool, but good materials and, as Masterskrain says, good caulking is essential.
I was looking for a specific recent story about a group of Christians who are calling for more attention to be given to climate change because of how it will effect the poor and because of the stewardship required of Christians in protecting God’s creation. What I found with “climate change addressed by religious groups” was a plethora of stories going back to 1995 addressing the concerns of various church groups. Science and Religion have many who want our leaders, worldwide, to address to take actions to slow or lessen the effects of this growing threat to our neighbors, our wildlife, and our shorelines. They want a civil and respectful debate conducted in an intelligent manner.
Sadly, it is not important to our world’s corporate leaders or to the majority of our world’s ‘elected’ leaders.
    but Respectfully,

Build shore front houses on pontoons. Put deep tall pilings a couple of feet off each corner, put up spring lines, and have the cars parked on some sorts of rafts also anchored to the pilings with spring lines. Or smarten up and let them put up substantial dunes and get periscopes to see the precious view.

Dunes, like barrier islands, serve a valuable purpose for wetlands and other lands. Only an idiot would build right on the ocean on an barrier island. Rich idiots whine every time they’re wiped out, and swear to rebuild.

Fire areas are much the same.

Garp had a plane crash into the house, so he’s statistically with the program. When a fire, or flood, or storm, wipes an area clean every 3-10 years, and has for centuries, building an indefensible building, from the wrong materials for the habitat is either insane, or stupid, and stupid wins.

Stupid isn’t a recent phenomenon, but “deniers” are much more recent than scientists monitoring anthropogenic climate change around the world, regionally, and/or globally, going back over 60 years.
