“Republicans have defined their position, regardless of how reckless: austerity or bust. However, as economists have warned, austerity generally precedes — and, in fact, can cause — bust. Just look at Europe.

But Republicans are so dizzy over the deficits and delighted to lick the boots of billionaires that they cannot — or will not — see it. They are still trying to sell cut-to-grow snake oil: cut spending and cut taxes, and the economy will grow because rich people will be happy, and when rich people are happy they hire poor people, and then everyone’s happy."

Most of us are similar to yourself and we read most all of the new toons…
So when you spam multiple toons with the same cut and paste it is annoying and actually detracts from what you are trying to communicate.

The CBO says the Sequester will result in 750,000 fewer jobs being created in 2013. The CBO is a little better with numbers than Maxine Waters.

I think that this was probably more of a general statement about prophet doomsayers, than any kind of a particular political statement!

I wonder if George Takei could solve this dilemma like he did the President’s Star Wars/ Star Trek gaffe.

“The poor, the homeless, the uninsured who get sick, etc.”
Isn’t that the 47% Romney was talking about? Well, as long as the 53% are there to block ANY “handouts” things will be well, right?

And I suppose you see no problem with deficit spending into the infinite future.

By the way, most of us want to increase revenue by tax reform but you will have none of it. Oh wait, Obama did adopt the same plan that Romney/Ryan trotted out after he said it was foolish and would not work. Imagine reforming the tax code to eliminate ways to avoid paying taxes, such stupidity (LOL).

But tell me WMC, will the bill ever come due?

See who’s laughing in a month. Effing GOP is out to destroy America and are doing a good job of it.

If they force a governmental shut down at the end of this month (and the pols show that most American voters will blame the GOP), then for all practical purposes in 2014 the GOP will simply cease to exist. This is even with their gerrymandering the congressional districts. The same thing happened to the Gingrich led House of Representatives when they did the same thing, thus helping their hated “enemy” in former president Clinton to get re-elected.

When the House can pass a bill WITHOUT cuts that disproportionately affect the poor, and WITH meaningful tax reform, we MAY have a chance. Boehner’s claim that they passed bills ignores the fact that what was in them was totally objectionable to the Senate. This,of course, ignores the fact that a supermajority is needed ithe Senate anyway. And the “tax increases” on Jan. 1 were a RETURN to previous tax rates, as the cuts were set TO EXPIRE! THEY WERE NOT PERMANENT! And the Republicans knew this when they voted for them. Cry me a river! (Oh, wait, Boehner’s already shed enough tears to fill the Mississippi!
