“Republicans have defined their position, regardless of how reckless: austerity or bust. However, as economists have warned, austerity generally precedes — and, in fact, can cause — bust. Just look at Europe.

But Republicans are so dizzy over the deficits and delighted to lick the boots of billionaires that they cannot — or will not — see it. They are still trying to sell cut-to-grow snake oil: cut spending and cut taxes, and the economy will grow because rich people will be happy, and when rich people are happy they hire poor people, and then everyone’s happy."

With a tip of the hat to Charles Blow

Most of us are similar to yourself and we read most all of the new toons…
So when you spam multiple toons with the same cut and paste it is annoying and actually detracts from what you are trying to communicate.

The CBO says the Sequester will result in 750,000 fewer jobs being created in 2013. The CBO is a little better with numbers than Maxine Waters.

I think that this was probably more of a general statement about prophet doomsayers, than any kind of a particular political statement!

I wonder if George Takei could solve this dilemma like he did the President’s Star Wars/ Star Trek gaffe.

“The poor, the homeless, the uninsured who get sick, etc.”
Isn’t that the 47% Romney was talking about? Well, as long as the 53% are there to block ANY “handouts” things will be well, right?

Clark, I respect you for your service to our country many years ago. And, I understand why you may be bitter…. But, remember that O has predicted the apocalypse since he was reelected.

And I suppose you see no problem with deficit spending into the infinite future.

By the way, most of us want to increase revenue by tax reform but you will have none of it. Oh wait, Obama did adopt the same plan that Romney/Ryan trotted out after he said it was foolish and would not work. Imagine reforming the tax code to eliminate ways to avoid paying taxes, such stupidity (LOL).

But tell me WMC, will the bill ever come due?

    Yes from the Sequester.
“If sequestration takes effect, these cuts will disproportionately impact the nation’s medical schools and teaching hospitals and the patients they serve. Only 6 percent of hospitals, major teaching hospitals, and their medical school physicians provide more than 20 percent of all hospital care in this country, 41 percent of hospital charity care, 20 percent of care to Medicare patients, and 25 percent of care to Medicaid patients.”
“The budget sequester scheduled to take effect on March 1 could result in an estimated 900,000 Community Health Center patients losing care and force some health center sites to slash services or possibly close their doors. With the sequester deadline just days away, health center advocates from around the country are urging Members of Congress to delay or replace the sequester as soon as possible. If Congress does not act, health centers face a potential loss of $120 million in funding at a time when the need for affordable health care services far exceeds the supply.”
“Over the past week, President Obama has painted a picture of impending disaster, warning of travel delays, laid-off firefighters and pre-schoolers tossed out of Head Start. Conservatives accuse Obama of exaggerating the impact, and some White House allies worry the slow-moving sequester may fail to live up to the hype.”

    The 2013 sequester includes:

    • $42.7 billion in defense cuts (a 7.9 percent cut).
    • $28.7 billion in domestic discretionary cuts (a 5.3 percent cut).
    • $9.9 billion in Medicare cuts (a 2 percent cut).
    • $4 billion in other mandatory cuts (a 5.8 percent cut to nondefense programs, and a 7.8 percent cut to mandatory defense programs).
That makes for a total of $85.4 billion in cuts. Note: numbers here updated to latest CBO figures; thanks to Center for Budget and Policy Priorities for noting the difference from initial OMB numbers.

Money keeps a healthy an unhealthy alive alike. Do you think Chavez would still be alive now if he was poor? Stop being a solipsist.

What the CBO shows that consistently Pres. Obama has been lowing the debt yearly faster than any have done in a long time. He gets no credit for it. Just the hyperspastic misrepresentations of economic calamity they had no interest or fear in under Bush.
