I would rather cut the Pork Barrels, Earmarks, and general waste. Just think what would happen if a true audit of govt spending happened???

I get this cartoon. Let’s reduce our capability to defend ourselves anytime, anywhere, against anybody, and focus on making it easy and OK to kill the unborn.

beenthere41, rarely do we employ our military to actually defend ourselves. We use it more to control others - and that is not an honorable use.

I would rather cut military spending since it is, in general, a waste. I would much rather spend my tax money on feeding the poor and helping people get their lives back on track.

As for the unborn - why are you so worried about those who are not born yet when you don’t seem to worry about those who are already born?

Mr. “beenthere41” we do not use our military to defend ourselves, we use it to enable the military industrial complex to devour our wealth.

THe military is a Constitutional requirement. Planned parenthhod is nmot. If you’re too cheap to buy a rubber and/or too chicken to ask your man to wear one thenm it’s on you. BTW: Plastic wrap makes a good improvised condom in a pinch. Poor Apalachian girls were using it 50 years ago.

The PEOPLE of Afghanistan and Iraq did NOTHING to the U.S. The Viet Nam experience was we ignored our promise to Ho Chi Minh and betrayed him in ‘45 and again in ‘54 AND betrayed the Vietnamese people- they won, and now we’re buying product from this nation that may actually be more “capitalist” than the U.S. feudal plutocracy. 27% of the tax dollar goes to “defense” to attack those who’ve done nothing to us.

50% of fertilized embryo never implant in the uterus and thus are “aborted’ by nature. PP just tries to keep those UNWANTED OR UNAFFORDABLE embryo from being created in the FIRST PLACE as over 90% of their actual effort.

We need to look at cause and effect. Our “wars” since WW II have essentially been without “just cause”, thus the effect has been destruction of our economy, and true morality, while some take their “moral high ground” in defense of the unborn, and praise killing the “born”– that’s “morality”??

I notice the conservatives are oversimplifying here. Our military is larger than that of any two countries in the world put together. cdward’s right on: why do we need to beat any two countries put together? What is our real purpose here, and how does the rest of the world see us as a consequence?
You may say, but we’re in three wars! Yes, and not paying for them either, since the GOP shamelessly introduced a tax cut while invoking patriotism, and the Democratic legislators gave in shamelessly. So let’s get out of those three wars, which could justify considerably less investment in the Pentagon and invest in things like, oh, our economy, education, and other useful things to build up our country. Building bombs to be blown up makes short-term money, but it doesn’t build long-term value. Let’s take care of the born: the better educated people are, the better they are at managing their own fertility.
