    “Photograph” comes from “writing with light.” I just thought of cuneiform writing, which looks like it was scratched onto wood. Like the writing instrument had to be SHARP, like an ax, but smaller, of course.

    Cuneiform was written on clay, so the stylus was closer to a sculpting tool than a blade.
