At one place my husband and I lived, we would leave a handful of peanuts for the neighborhood squirrels. One day we forgot, and a squirrel climbed up the fire escape and tapped on our living room window. Thankfully it was only the matriarch and not the whole family.

Since I’ve killed 13 squirrels in my back yard, I don’t have a squirrel problem anymore. Tree rats got into the walls of my house and caused considerable damage. I still keep the trap baited just in case.

Subtlety has it’s rewards. Those squirrels aren’t interested.

Politicians in general I’d say. They are all crooks.

What kind of trap do you use? I tried the cage kind and they just run in and out. I have a terrible squirrel problem.

Train them to do odd jobs around the house, pick up litter and sticks in the yard, clean the gutters, wash the car…

Nope. They’re waiting for the rides to open in Acornland (Pooch Café, Wednesday).

My daughter’s miniature goat bangs on the sliding glass door every morning. Hummingbirds will peer into the living room when the porch hummingbird feeder is empty. One of the budgies will hover in front of my daughter’s face when the seeds are scarce.

The seed feeders I use are fairly squirrel-proof. The suet cages also keep squirrels out, but every chipmunk in the area knows about them and visits them often.

All the dogs would do is run after the squirrels and the squirrels would go into the nearest tree. None of my dogs have caught a squirrel yet.

I keep thinking a .17 caliber air rifle & a squirrel stew recipe. But that’s just me with no squirrel problem, here in the desert.
