Rose is Rose presents the extraordinary nature of everyday life as seen through the eyes of the Gumbo family. The strip stars child-at-heart Rose and her ASD (Attentiveness Surplus Disorder) husband Jimbo. Their gentle son Pasquale is watched over by his Guardian Angel who morphs from tiny cherub into gargantuan protector. Family kitten Peekaboo boasts that her humans are the cutest in town. Readers relish the romance in Rose and Jimbo's marriage, yet cheer the emergence of Rose's rebel alter ego, the fearless, wild and ready-to-roll Vicki the Biker

That’s a subtle insult from Corky in Panel 1.

This is one of the few times they show the fence between the houses. It is usually wide open spaces with a few trees and even the huge trees seem to magically appear only when they need one for a tree swing or a hammock. I also didn’t understand what Mimi said. I hope they let her grow up a little soon….and give her some hair.

It is fun to try and figure out what she is saying. Kind of like trying to understand the “crocs in Pearls before swine.”

@shades_is_here
it helps if you say out loud what you read in Mimi’s speech.

My skin crawls every time Mimi is featured. Teach the little brat to talk already! Then she can tell Clem where to go too.

If you say what Mimi says and the way it’s spelled is still the way an adult would say it (like how is “beybee” pronounced if not “baby”?), then what’s the point of the weird spelling? Mimi obviously can’t spell anyway, she’s SAYING it. Rose Is Rose is one of my all-time favorite comics, but I have never understood the weird spellings of Mimi’s words.
