   Clem is such an ax wound. Why on earth does Rose let him hang out at their house? I’m glad these guys don’t age. Clem as a teenager would be unbearable.

    Having ordinary little kids speaking with sophisticated words far beyond their supposed age is part of the humor. Bill Watterson used this with masterful effect in “Calvin & Hobbes.”
