BTW, I wrote you a comment on Snow Sez. I don’t know if you saw it, but I just wanted to reiterate how I was sorry to see your strip eliminated from the contest this week. Your work is very funny and I always enjoy reading it. Keep the funny toons coming, Derrick!

A man is lost in a dessert. After hours in the hot sun he comes to a little shed with a man standing in front of it.

    “Water?” he asks.

“Sorry,” the guy answers. “I don’t have any water, I sell ties. However, if you want water, there is a restaurant about five miles that way.” He says, pointing the opposite direction that the man is crawling.

“Thanks,” the man says as he starts to turn around.

The guy stops him and says, “before you leave, perhaps you would like to buy this tie for just five dollars?”

The man says, “no thanks, I don’t want a tie.”

“But this is a great deal!” replies the salesman.

The man crawls for what seems like hours. Finally he sees a building in the distance. He forces himself up and trys to run toward the building, he can only walk at a fast pace. When he gets to the building he can’t walk further, he falls to a crawl again. However, he sees that the place is indeed a restaurant. It even has a greeter at the door.

“You have water??” the man asks with a crackling voice.

“We sure do,” the greeter answeres. “it is filtered to keep out impurities, and we keep it nice and cool!”

The man is finally hopefull. Excidedly, he gets a second wind and stands back up. He goes to enter the door to the restaurant and the greeter puts his arm up in front of him, stopping him.

In a friendly voice the greeter says, “I am sorry sir, you can not come into this establishment unless you’re wearing a tie.”

There really is such a thing as a sundance. Indians would be suspended with large bone needles piercing their chest muscles. They would hang for days in hopes of getting a vision while another warrior spun them around. It’s depicted in the movie “A Man Called Horse.”
