And NONE of that would come close to paying for all the Entitlements.
Weapons are needed, and we should take care of our soldiers, especially when they get home.

As a Conservative, and a Texan, I am ashamed of this idiot Cruz. He seems determined to recreate the Alamo.

Well you should stop voting Regressive Republican. If you had stuck with Progressive Democrats you’d have only about 3-5 trillion in debt with better public schools, lower tuition from public funding at University, better bridges and infrastructure, viable mass transit in all urban areas, better electric and hybrid cars and trucks, no rust belt with good paying manufacturing jobs still in the US, a fighting chance against global warming catastrophe, and you wouldn’t be able to blame the outcomes of your foolish beliefs and petty prejudices on Obama enslaving your grandkids. You did it all by yourself. So look in the mirror and say thank you.

Raise the capital gains tax rate to match income tax rates, especially for hedge fund managers and those who make their income from capital gains.
Decrease the military expense – don’t build tanks that the Pentagon doesn’t want, stop building equipment that would work for WW II but not today. Stop generals from double-dipping – they retire and collect their pension then get hired as consultants to promote more war.
Eliminate the tax break given to businesses when they close a US office and re-locate to another country.
Raise the minimum wage so the working poor can get off of food stamps – why are taxpayers subsidizing Walmart and McDonalds?
Eliminate farm subsidies – many members of CONGRESS collect these.
Eliminate fossil fuel subsidies – some were started over a century ago when oil was a “new industry”.
I can’t believe I have to say this – eliminate tobacco subsidies. Boehner passed out checks from tobacco companies ON THE HOUSE FLOOR right before Congress voted to retain these.
Not much money in this last one but I can’t believe it is still in place.

It is good that you can go to your Happy Place…

where the focus of school is learning instead of being a source of union jobs…

where the system produces Engineers that build 50 year roads instead of the short term ones that require constant maintenance (you know the forever roadworks)…

where people understand that without new Nuclear power generation the source of electricity is hydrocarbon based….

where the people left behind in the rust belt train themselves to create automation to replace those factories…

where people understand that man-made global warming is Newspeak for “ignore that snow vote me into power”…

Wow you were able to use ‘prejudices’, ‘Obama’ and ‘enslave’ in the same sentence…

    @Tim Culberson

Closing corporate loopholes, raising taxes on the wealthy, decreasing military spending—all would balance the budget and, thus, slowly pay off the debt.
