No, because Carnival Cruise Lines actually tried to do something to help.

Thank you for keeping people focused on this Mr. Rogers. Hurricane season is coming and we may well have to deal with more damage like this, including the areas still recovering from Sandy. You can still give to the Sandy relief effort in $10 increments on your phones or at sites like this…

Why not help yourself? When you KNOW you live in areas that are prone to big weather events you should be prepared to deal with it on your own.

I don’t recall New Jersey being prone to hurricanes. Every place has natural disasters. Choose your poison.

Please, Mr. Government, save me. I refused to buy insurance.

You need to revise that to include the “Insurance” companies that will take your money for everything else but won’t insure your property against water related damage!
Forcing the government to be the only one to provide flood insurance!

According to Ronald Reagan, “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, ’I’m from the government and I’m here to help.’” So what’s the problem, people?

To answer Olfart, I used to live in NJ (Toms River to be exact) 50 years ago, and yes, we had a hurricane while I lived there. Nothing like as strong as this one, but a hurricane nevertheless. We lived a block from Barnegat Bay, and I wonder if the house even still exists after this one. It makes me sad to see the damage to Seaside Heights & the boardwalk.

We Floridians do help ourselves, but right now it’s the Dry Season, which means that it’s time to keep one’s computer backed up & have a large box ready to haul out into the vehicle in case a wildfire comes our way.
.
When it starts raining heavily ‘round here, then we’ll start preparing for Hurricane Season.

And then Reagan started drug tests for everyone.
Take a demeaning, unconstitutional test or lose your job.
He put the fear of government into many.

Educate yourself on this. Hurricane/Flood Insurance are backed by the Federal Government. Folks who didn’t have insurance aren’t eligible for anything other than a loan for repairs/rebuilding.
The amount allocated for the Hurricane Insurance program has turned out to be too small because the hurricanes were much, much worse than anyone expected.

It is against my nature to wish for bad things to happen to people, even those who may deserve it. You have made rare comments in the past that made me feel you were a good person with strong opinions. Your comments, today especially, have me reconsidering this. There are many people who have had your attitude in the past. Then something terrible happened to them, and it made them reconsider.
I do not want anything bad to happen to you or to anyone for whom you care.
That said…
You are the most hateful, mean spirited, hard hearted, belligerent, argumentative, vicious, and venomous commentator in this forum. You offer nothing but sarcasm and pain. Feel free to flag me whenever you see my name, I assure you I will be much faster to flag yours.

@HOWGOZIT
I have flagged et2008 in the past and been criticized for doing so. I do not care about Ima’s politics. I do care that it is cruel and uncaring. I will not flag its political views, and the posting to which I am replying is not even the one I consider its worst. Perhaps I am not well, and perhaps I will be provided insights that will make me not only regret this post but will make me apologize, as I have to you. That said….
As one who has family still recovering from Katrina…as one who knows that tropical storm insurance covers less than insurance normally does…as one who is a compassionate, caring human respectful of people in spite of political or ‘religious’ position, this calloused, cruel, and thoughtless posting, one of many by this entitiy, has struck a nerve. i respect you Howie. I even appreciate you. But do not defend this thing. It is unamerican and exists only to do harm.
Give me a reason to think otherwise….PLEASE!
I hate feeling this way, it demeans me, and even shames me. I will no longer address it, unless I can be convinced it is only having misguided fun for which it regrets and will no longer attack people like those who are helpless victims of a natural occurence.
Respectfully,
C.

The difference between the government and Carnival is that Carnival saved their people.
