Uhh, Florida already gives you “freedom to fire” on anyone, at any time, whether you’re just coming back from 7/11 or sitting in a movie theater. They give priority to getting guns in the hands of “crazies”.

Even though the north won the War of Yankee Aggression the politics were still the same as today’s war’s on foreign soil.

The loser is still allowed to fly the flag and openly hate the victors.
    Strange then and strange now.

That really has nothing to do with it. It’s a first amendment right. If Americans can legally burn the American flag on American soil as a protest, as upheld by the SCOTUS, then anyone can fly any flag they want.

He never said they couldn’t fly the flag. He simply said it was strange…and so it is. As far as I know, it is only on government property that there is any restriction. However, in the case of both the confederate flag and the Nazi flag perhaps some basic sense of decency toward one’s fellow man might come into play.

Only if you ARE legislating. I was referring to one’s self-censorship out of a basic sense of decency (which I believe most of us have). I think that man evolved with a basic moral sense (you might look into Jonathon Haidt’s work or George Lakoff’s work on this subject if you are interested).

A bit too extreme. I have lived in North Carolina, and I have many friends in both North and South Carolina who do not fit your characterization. Unfortunately, there are those, all over the country, who do. That is one of our major problems.

You appear to be proposing murdering human beings for sport.
    Not even in jest.
    Consider yourself flagged.

Chicago thugs will be flooding to South Carolina every weekend to get their free guns.

    Nah, Indiana is still closer.

And how much time have you spent in the Carolinas ? I’ve never lived there myself, but I’m curious how you know so much about what they believe.

you do NOT have a right to not be offended.

Can you reconcile that statement with our laws regarding obscenity, nudity etc?

Also, if one behaves like a jass-ack, does one have a right not to be told one is behaving like a jass-ack?

“I have every right to be offended.”

Yes you do. And I’ll fight to the death for your right to be offended. And also, for someone’s right to offend you.

    @Northern Redman

Agreed. So here we are on the same page. But neither has the right to legislate about personal morality, as opposed to public domain morality. (See Rawls on the question of comprehensive philosophies in democracies.)
